It started with a simple problem
In 2016, I was a Muslim living in London with a frustration I assumed someone had already solved: finding accurate jama'ah times for my local masjid, quickly and easily.
The data was everywhere — scattered across websites, PDFs, and WhatsApp groups. The apps I found were slow, buggy, full of ads, and gave calculated times that didn't match what my masjid actually used. If I was travelling across the city, I had no idea when Jummah started at the nearest mosque, or whether they even had a women's prayer area for my wife or sister.
So I built Salahtimez.com — a simple, fast prayer times website for London. It was basic, but it worked. People used it.
But the real problem wasn't just prayer times — it was the disconnect between masjids and their communities. Masjids had no easy way to share their schedules digitally. Worshippers had no reliable way to find them. The data simply didn't exist in one place.
That realisation became MyLocalMasjid. I started building a comprehensive database of every masjid in the UK — their real jamaat times, facilities, locations. Not calculated guesses, but actual schedules from the masjids themselves.
Then came the admin tools, so masjids could manage their own data. Then websites, so every masjid could have a proper online presence. Then the mobile app, so worshippers could find all of this in their pocket.
Today, 2,300+ masjids are on the platform. The app is live on iOS and Android. No ads, no tracking, no premium tiers.
